Related Subreddits. I have a VPN (a paid for one, a good one). If you use it, you might be able to see whatever site as if you were somewhere else (except for sites like the BBC iPlayer who block VPNs), but your internet speed is considerably slowed and there is really no way you'll get anything near HD and you'll need patience for all the times your video needs to buffer. If VPN is the last resort to see something, ok. But if you're using it for a paid service that will give you shit viewing quality, it's really not worth it. Well I'm happy for you to have such a good internet speed, but I'll never be able to get something faster than the connection where I live (should be 50mbps).
It can only go down. There's better VPNs out there, I know. But the one I have currently I got for a good deal and it's better than free ones and does pretty well in privacy terms and has a very good availability of countries to choose from.
Point is: I won't change it, and most people here are not making for VPNs and will likely have an even worse quality video/more buffering. VPN is not a perfect solution and paying for kocowa etc if you don't live in tgeir region probably does not make sense. Oh - I just checked the site I primarily used with a VPN doesn't have HD options (576p max, and auto sets me to 234p). So it must be the site.
Tbh, I have trust problems with these items sometimes. Viki, once it changed its webplayer to only be on auto speed, never once gave me HD and I could only see bad quality videos (on my normal connection, without VPN!) whereas I've had only limited buffering if I set it manually to HD. Might I ask you how much your good VPN + streaming site subscriptions cost you in a month? I'm in the usa. I use Kocowa (paid sub $70 year) and drama fever (paid sub $100 year) (free with commercials) and viki (for free) my experience with viki tho is unfinished subs or long waits for subs cept for a few shows. Those three give you pretty good drama coverage (for current drama's) and decent variety show and some movies. But i cannot find 'princess aurora' anywhere online and I think there was a King drama i can't find either King Seongjo?
And i cannot find any of the pre korean wave epic multi 10 part series of the joseun dynasty either.
